CVS Inverclyde has awarded local charities and community organisations funding as part of the fourth year of the Scottish Government’s Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund.

In total, over £237,712 has been awarded to 23 organisations in Inverclyde who will use the money to fund projects to support mental health and wellbeing in our communities.

The funding is part of £15 million made available to third sector organisations across Scotland by the Scottish Government to help tackle the impact of social isolation, loneliness and the mental health inequalities made worse by the pandemic.

CVS Inverclyde CEO, Charlene Elliott, said:

“We are incredibly proud to have administered this funding on behalf of the Scottish Government for the fourth year.

“There’s a huge range and diversity of organisations and services that have received funding which reminds us that Inverclyde is a caring and compassionate place. Thousands of people will again benefit from the work being carried out by third sector organisations in Inverclyde.

“The fund was highly competitive and unfortunately, we received significantly more applications than we could fund.  However, as the local TSI we are here to support Inverclyde charities and voluntary groups with challenges they face including funding, so please reach out to us and take a look at the resources available on our website.”

Nine organisations recieved continuation funding, building on their successful delivery in the previous year.

One of these successful projects is Creativity in Mind from Rig Arts, a series of creative wellbeing workshops for adults with disabilities and long-term conditions.

The Anchor, formerly Man On Inverclyde, will use the fund to continue their Stability Service, an innovative approach to preventing suicide by combining 1 to 1 support with a group-based delivery.

While Parklea Branching Out will continue their Community Inclusion programme which delivers classes, workshops, and activities tailored to enhance the wellbeing of adults with additional support needs.

This year, 10 organisations have been funded for the first time through the fund, this shows the increased reach had by the fund.

Magic Torch Comics will fund their Feeling Sound Programme, this will promote wellbeing through a series of creative activity workshops based around stories and sound

The Fun Spot will launch their Clyde Network, a project with aims to address the social isolation faced by Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) adults in Greenock and Port Glasgow.

While Morton in the Community will begin the Be the Change initiative, which will focus on women’s preventive health and wellbeing care, working in partnership with Moving On Inverclyde.
