CVS Inverclyde has developed two free e-learning courses available to access on the TSI Scotland Learning Portal.
Supporting Young Volunteers is an interactive e-learning module designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to successfully recruit, engage, and support young volunteers. Whether you’re new to working with young people or looking to enhance your existing volunteer programme, this course will provide you with practical tools and insights to make a difference.
Through this training, you’ll explore effective strategies for creating appealing volunteer roles, learn how to provide meaningful support, and understand the importance of safeguarding and best practices. You’ll also gain insight into administering Saltire Awards, helping young volunteers track and celebrate their achievements.
By the end of this module, you’ll feel confident in your ability to engage young people and help them thrive in their volunteer roles while strengthening your organisation’s impact.
By completing Supporting Young Volunteers, you will be able to:
- Identify strategies to recruit young volunteers and tailor opportunities to their needs and interests.
- Recognise and address challenges young volunteers may face, ensuring they feel supported and valued.
- Understand safeguarding principles and legal responsibilities when working with young people.
- Use the Saltire Awards framework to help young volunteers celebrate their achievements and track their progress.
- Apply best practices to build inclusive, youth-friendly volunteer programmes.
Step into Volunteering is an e-module for those volunteering or thinking about volunteering to learn more about the role of a volunteer and what steps are needed to prepare themselves for their first days in the role.
The e-module is designed for those aged 16 – 25 years old but any age group can complete it.
Both courses should take around 30 minutes each and have a certificate which will be available on completion of each course.
