Bill has worked for CVS Inverclyde since August 2014 when he joined as Development Officer for Social Enterprise. His role is to engage with local social enterprises to better understand them, understand their needs and gather information about the products and services they sell. His responsibilities include supporting social enterprises through the provision of guidance on funding, business planning, governance requirements, supporting training & development needs, providing opportunities for networking and collaboration, and providing a communication network through newsletters, bulletins, the web site and network meetings.
Bill has spent the majority of his career working in the computer industry. Over a period of 25 years he was able to develop his management experience and skills in a variety of management positions mainly within the materials, manufacturing, supply chain, and fulfilment disciplines.
On leaving the private sector in 2005, he joined a cancer support Charity in Glasgow where he became the Chief Executive Officer. His role was to lead, manage and organise all aspects of the work of the Charity.
From 2010 until joining CVS Inverclyde, Bill worked for Argyll and Bute Social Enterprise Network in the role of Social Enterprise Development Officer. He has previously served as convenor of the Scottish Conference for Cancer Support Groups. He was also Chair of the board of Inverkip Community Initiative (SCIO) and still serves on the board as a trustee.
