Investing in Youth Volunteering Project
“Volunteers are not paid – not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless."
The Inverclyde Youth Volunteering Project (IYVP) was created with the ambition to grow a trained, enthusiastic, engaged, and sustainable volunteer network in Inverclyde. The project has a particular focus on young people, aged 16-24 years of age, who are facing or have faced challenging life circumstances. Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the project is aligned with the priorities of the fund, which included:
To develop skills and experience for young people through volunteering.
To support young people who struggle to access volunteering opportunities.
Build on the success of Inverclyde Council’s CRF project which delivered positive destinations for inactive young people.
Support local volunteer involving organisations to recruit young volunteers.
Recognise youth volunteering by supporting young people in gaining the National Saltire Awards.
Celebrate young people and recognise the power of volunteering.

CVS Inverclyde, in partnership with Inverclyde Council, are delivering this exciting volunteering project which aims to:
· Develop skills and experience for young people through volunteering.
· Support young people who struggle to access volunteering opportunities.
· Build on the success of Inverclyde Council’s CRF project which delivers positive destinations for inactive young people.
· Support local volunteer-involving organisations to recruit young volunteers.
· Recognise youth volunteering by supporting young people to get involved with the Saltire Awards.
· Celebrate young people and recognise the power of volunteering.
We have also developed free, online training to support young people to get involved in volunteering. Our ‘Step Into Volunteering’ training provides information about what to expect when volunteering, the benefits of getting involved, and how to use volunteering experience to enhance your employability.
For volunteer-involving organisations, our ‘Supporting Young Volunteers’ training helps organisations to value and support under-25s in their volunteering journey, in turn assisting them to contribute to their charitable mission.
