A Volunteer Journey in Sports Coaching

Euan was finishing his college studies in sports coaching when Craig Molloy invited him to volunteer at Craig Molloy Coaching CIC. Although initially unsure, Euan decided “to give it a go, to get some experience” and joined as a volunteer in January 2025.

Six months later, Euan was still volunteering and thoroughly enjoying himself. Through his role, Euan’s confidence increased as he got more comfortable and became more creative in the coaching sessions. Now, Euan loves the freedom of creating his own sessions and his favourite part of voluntering has been working with and getting to know the primary students he coaches. Euan also recognises that he’s making a difference in the lives of the students, and he loves to see young people being active and enjoying themselves.

Between January and July, Euan volunteered for over 200 hours! This is an amazing achievement that was recognised through the Saltire Awards, and Euan was presented with his certificate at Aileymill Primary School. Commenting that “it didn’t feel like 200 hours”, Euan reflected on how much he’d enjoyed his time.

By the end of 2025 though, Euan had become an employee of Craig Molloy Coaching CIC. His creativity planning coaching sessions, his dedication as a volunteer and his increased confidence had prepared him for a paid role with increased responsibility.

When asked whether he would recommend volunteering to others, Euan said: “Just go for it, honestly. At first, I was a bit cautious about volunteering, you know, if you're not getting paid. But it’s just really worth it. It's worth it in the long run. It's worth getting that experience.”

Euan is currently still working with Craig Molloy Coaching CIC is now inspired to create his own business in the future. At 19 years of age, Euan has already made a positive impact locally and we’re excited to see where his drive and determination will lead him in the future.
