CVS Inverclyde celebrates Volunteers’ Week 2026
As part of our Volunteers’ Week 2026 activities, the CVS Inverclyde team recently took part in Employer Supported Volunteering.
Employer Supported Volunteering gives staff the opportunity to volunteer during working hours, supporting local organisations and causes while developing new skills, strengthening team relationships and making a positive contribution to their communities.
For our team, this was a great opportunity to get out the office, support some local causes and enjoy the benefits of volunteering together.
In the morning, staff hosted a free book stall at West College Scotland in partnership with the National Literacy Trust as part of the National Year of Reading Go All In campaign. Throughout the event, we spoke with students and staff, helping to distribute free books (and a few Tunnock’s Teacakes) and encourage more people to enjoy reading.
Later in the day, team members visited RSP Off Grid Adventure Centre to support ongoing renovation work at the site. Thankfully the weather stayed dry as the group tackled a large section of overgrown weeds at the front of the centre. They were even lucky enough to spot a deer and a couple of newts while they worked!
Those couple of hours gave the team the opportunity to spend time together, reflect on their own volunteering experiences and discuss the different ways volunteering has shaped their careers. By the end of the session, the difference made by a few hours of collective effort was clear to see.
All of those that got involved felt more connected to the team and the area that we work in. Thank you to RSP Off Grid Adventure Centre for hosting us, and to the National Literacy Trust for partnering with us on the book stall initiative.
