Last week marked National Volunteers’ Week 2025, an opportunity to celebrate the incredible work of volunteers.
CVS Inverclyde spent Thursday and Friday collecting for Inverclyde Foodbank at the Tesco in Port Glasgow.
This was a great way to partner with another local third sector organisation and collect much needed food to support people across Inverclyde.
The generosity of the local people was Incredible, with many stopping to donate food. The featured image above shows Val, a CVS Community Link Worker with Isabel from Inverclyde Foodbank with a trolly of food worth £176 that was donated by a single person. This individual completed their own shopping and then went around the aisles again to fill a trolley with their donations.
Adam Wines i58 Project Lead at Inverclyde Foodbank said: “During Volunteer Week we had a collection over two days in Port Glasgow Tesco.
“We handed out ‘shopping list’ leaflets at the entrance with our most needed items and collected donations from people as they left the store.
“Without our incredible volunteers we simply wouldn’t be able to do what we do, and the many people facing hardship wouldn’t get the support they need.”
This event was part of a series of volunteering activities CVS Inverclyde has been involved in during Volunteer Week. Read more volunteering stories here: https://www.cvsinverclyde.org.uk/news/all-news/
