Investing in Youth Volunteering
About
The Inverclyde Youth Volunteering Project (IYVP) supports young people aged 16–24 to build confidence, develop new skills and take their first steps into volunteering. The project focuses on those who have experienced challenging circumstances, helping them access meaningful opportunities and strengthen their connection to the community.
Funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the project contributes to local priorities around skills development, employability and community participation, while growing a motivated, well-supported volunteer network for Inverclyde.
CVS Inverclyde, in partnership with Inverclyde Council, is delivering this volunteering project which aims to:
Develop skills and experience for young people through volunteering.
Support local volunteer-involving organisations to recruit young volunteers.
Support young people who struggle to access volunteering opportunities.
Celebrate young people and recognise the power of volunteering.
Build on the success of Inverclyde Council’s CRF project which delivers positive destinations for inactive young people.
Recognise youth volunteering by supporting young people to get involved with the Saltire Awards.
“Volunteers are not paid, not because they are worthless,
but because they are priceless”

Free online training for young people
We have also developed free, online training to support young people to get involved in volunteering. Our ‘Step Into Volunteering’ training provides information about what to expect when volunteering, the benefits of getting involved, and how to use volunteering experience to enhance your employability.
Training for volunteer-involving organisations
For volunteer-involving organisations, our ‘Supporting Young Volunteers’ training helps organisations to value and support under-25s in their volunteering journey, in turn assisting them to contribute to their charitable mission.
