Craig Molloy CIC wins Most Promising Start-up Business of the Year Award
September 2025
Craig Molloy Coaching C.I.C is a Greenock based social enterprise established in November last year with the help of our organisation. Craig says, 'Before I met CVS Inverclyde, I knew nothing about social enterprises and thanks to them, I am in a much better place to lead the CIC and keep building the foundations we have in place'. Craig and his team provide several inclusive football programmes including a vital Volunteer Programme designed to support young people in the community. This programme thoughtfully integrates basic employability skills training, showing how the discipline and teamwork inherent in football are directly applicable in the workplace.
Craig and his team took home the Most Promising Start-up Business of the Year Award at the Chamber of Commerce ICON Awards at Greenock Town Hall in September 2025. Reflecting on the win, Craig says, 'We were delighted to win the award, it shows the work we're doing in the community is working and making a difference. To be recognised at the ICON awards was amazing, it shows all the hard work to get to this stage has been worth while.'
Since establishing themselves as a CIC in November 2024, The football programmes that Craig Molloy Coaching are able to offer has increased in a short space of time, and the organisation has been able to increase their positive impact in the community. Craig says “Becoming a CIC has accelerated our growth enormously. It has enabled us to access various funding streams, helping us deliver weekly classes while keeping costs to a minimum for local young people.”
Offering his encouragement to other Inverclyde businesses, Craig says, "I would encourage anyone running a business to consider becoming a Social Enterprise — it’s been incredibly beneficial for us. Get in touch with CVS Inverclyde; they’ve been exceptionally helpful throughout the process. The best bit of advice I could give is keep turning up for the meetings with the team, it might not make sense at the start but it will all come together in the end.”
