GROW Programme Update
GROW Programme is a youth engagement initiative in partnership with Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and Developing the Young Workforce. Funded by JPMorgan Chase Foundation, the programme is designed to support young people from SIMD 1–2 areas (S3 pupils, typically aged 13–14) over an 18-month programme starting January 2026, to access workplace visits.
Young people in Inverclyde are already six weeks into the GROW Programme which supports 720 pupils across 72 schools in the west of Scotland. In our area, S3 students from St Stephen’s and Port Glasgow High School are taking part, exploring new sectors and building confidence as they look ahead to future pathways.
CVS Inverclyde is proud to be a key partner in delivering the youth work element of the programme locally. GROW creates meaningful connections between young people and employers, helping them make informed decisions about their careers while developing resilience, aspiration and recognised SCQF qualifications.
The programme also challenges misconceptions about different industries, offering real insight into what workplaces look and feel like. Through supportive environments and trusted adults, young people are encouraged to reflect on their strengths and consider positive next steps.
Recent visits have included AC Whyte for construction and sustainability sector, time with our staff team to learn about the third sector, Glasgow Chamber of Commerce to explore the tourism and events sector and the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland for insight into manufacturing. These experiences demonstrate the wide range of opportunities available across our region.
We look forward to continuing to support young people through the GROW Programme, keep an eye on our website and social media for further updates.
